Free and Easy: Equestrian Portrait by A. Clark

hover over image to zoom

A good example of the type of equestrian portraiture emanating from this family of artists, all, to some extent or the other, painting to record the horses for their owners, from lords and ladies to army officers and hunt members; occasionally race horses, although to a lesser extent than with some other equestrian artists.

This Bay horse was named Free and Easy, the name plate on the wall of his loosebox, and is painted in oil on canvas, signed by the artist A. Clark & Son, and dated 1918.

It is presented within a fine, solid oak frame with a gilt slip.
