Views of London by Edward Rooker

hover over image to zoom

At the end of 1766 the print maker and published, Edward Rooker, sought subscriptions for a set of London Views; initially London and Westminster, Covent Garden and Whitehall. A view of Horse Guards and a second of Covent Garden were added in 1768.

Although Rooker was responsible for the etching of the plates, the designs are attributed to the Sandbys, both Paul and Thomas. Although Horse Guards is declared to be the work of Michael Angelo Rooker, it is also considered to be largely based on a work by Sandby. Edward Rooker declares himself to be the designer and engraver of ‘Part of the Bridge at Blackfriars’.

The full set of six, engravings with etching, published in 1768. Excellent prints, presented in fine copies of period frames; o.s: 24 7/8 in x 19 3/8 in
