A fine and beautiful Regency period writing box, brass bound rosewood over mahogany with lift-up handles to the sides and a fold out, baize lined writing slope.

Inside the lid is a gold tooled red leather stationary flap with a pocket for each day of the week, the whole thing hinged and able to hold large sheets of paper and perhaps envelopes. Beneath the writing implements section are concealed three tiny secret drawers. The lock stamped Tompsons Patent Bir'm; the escutcheon stamped or cast with a Royal Coat of Arms and Tompsons Patent.
