or Jack Safe Return'd to his True Love Nancy.
A reverse painted mezzotint glass picture depicting an ordinary sailor of Britain’s Navy during the Napoleonic Wars; Jack Tar. Here we see him returned safely to his True Love, Nancy, bearing a gift of a ‘bacco’ box engraved with the verse, ‘If you loves I, As I loves you No pair so happy As we two’. Jack appears to have returned to Mounts Bay in Cornwall with St. Michael’s Mount to be seen beyond the busy sea and foreshore.
