An extensive suite of best quality polished bronze door furniture dating from the turn of the 19th century. Comprising eleven rim locks; nine utterly complete (although one has a steel keep), each with two axe head handles, a keep and a key hole plate, a further two are missing their keeps and axe head back handles. From the same residence and forming part of this suite is a bathroom lock and handles and two rim locks with ball handles and lock plates. Stamped by the manufacturer Gibbon of Wolverhampton and London.
In 1670 ironmonger James Gibbon set up a workshop in Wolverhampton and by the close of the 19th Century was advertising as "the oldest established lock maker in Britain".
