A pair of bronze storks standing on gilded rocky bases and holding aloft gilded foliate candles sockets; a gilded crown around their necks. The bronze storks are finely cast with sharp after-work to the feathers and the original gilding is of a good aged colour. English circa 1840.
Storks have long been a symbol of gratitude and faithfulness since they return to their nests year after year; they will often appear in heraldry for this reason. They are emblems of immortality and longevity, vigilance, contemplation, prudence, piety, meditation, and chastity.
