The Sentinel; etching of a bloodhound, artist's proof on vellum, signed in pencil, lower left, and with the artist's remarque of a gauntlet. Print seller's blind stamp mark lower left just outside of the image. Initialled and dated 1913 within the plate, published by Frost and Reed in that year. Within a period oak moulding frame.

Herbert Thomas Dicksee (1862–1942) was an English painter who specialised in oil paintings of dogs. He belonged to an illustrious artistic family, his father being the artist John Dicksee (1817–1905). Dicksee studied art at the Slade School, London, on a scholarship and his first painting was exhibited in 1881.
