A plain but very smart writing slope of exceptional quality.
Beautifully grained Rosewood, the interior panels banded with Kingwood.
Inside are four concealed drawers behind a mahogany strip beneath the writing implements section, two Sheffield Plate lidded inkwells and a green stained grained leather writing surface.
The hinges to the interior are finished with gold tinted lacquer and secured with bright polished steel screws. The lock is as exceptional as the box it secures. Running almost the entire width of the case it features five securing points operated simultaneously. A steel bar with the five loops is fitted to the lid which engages with the brass plate and lock when shut. This lock is operated by a key of an individual design and action. The barrel is made with two holes, the second must be engaged mid way when turning the key to lock, and disengaged when at the same point when opening.
