A fine little pair of mezzotint drolls published at the end of the eighteenth century to meet popular demand and interest in the Royal Family. ‘The First Interview of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ and ‘The Marriage Ceremony of the Prince and Princess of Wales’. Published May 1795 by John Fairburn at Minories, London. 

Within hand made replica print frames. 

o.s:6 7/8 inches x 8 7/8 inches. 

This pair of drolls represent the first meeting and subsequent marriage of the Prince and Princess of Wales, later to become King George IV (1762-1830) and Queen Caroline (of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel) (1768-1821) 

The same pair of drolls are held by the National Trust at Dyrham in Gloucestershire. Refernce No.NT 452905.2
