Eighteenth century French snuff box made of pressed burr maple with a tortoiseshell lining, the scene to the lid after the once celebrated and much reproduced work by the seventeenth century Dutch artist, Paulus Potter.

A French print produced by Louis Joseph Masquelier and Jacques Philippe Le Bas, published by Etienne Léon Poignant in 1773 is held in the collection of the British Museum.
