A typically handsome brass candlestick of the 'Latin Family', (see Ronald F. Michaelis, Old Domestic Base-Metal Candlesticks, Chapter 10) a high cone rising from the square flat tray base with wax retaining edge, standing on four feet. A small casting flaw beneath the main knop and a crack running a quarter of the circumference where the cone rises from the base.
Portuguese or Spanish circa 1750.
