A fine 17th/18th century cane; the pique decorated ivory handle is a pomander, the pierced cap unscrewing onto a cavity that would have held a piece of natural sponge infused with perfume.
The top is united to the malacca cane by a profiled silver metal band with engraved scalloping; the cane with eyelets for a lanyard and retaining an early, probably original, steel-tipped brass ferrule.
