A fine and rare desk piece modelled as a Victorian post box. The top is a lid, enamelled with a compass design and a flap for 'LETTERS', lifting to reveal a sprung candle holder. The plinth base swings open to reveal an ormolu mounted glass inkwell, engraved around with the retailer's details, 'LEUCHARS, 38 PICCADILLY', the door,set with a silver plated panel finely engraved with posting rates and times of collection, opens to reveal a match holder and striker, a button can be pulled around to present a frame to hold calendar cards.
