A fine and heavy 16th century brass alms dish in excellent condition with clear, sharp Gothic simulated script and deep, pronounced central boss. Probably Nuremburg circa 1590.
Provenance: The Collection of Sir William Burrel. (Shipping merchant, philanthropist and an important collector of antiques.) Then by decent to sale at Dreweatts, Newbury, 2008.
