A fine English silver snuffbox of circa 1760, the lid set with a 17th century French (Paris) ivory panel carved in low relief with the story of Narcissus & Echo.
The inside of the lid is finely engraved in rococo fashion, reflecting the scallop-shell shape of this box, and centred with a monogram. This panel, and the inside of the box, are both stamped with the silversmith's mark 'J.W' in a rectangle.
