Mrs. Harris of Jollop Yard taken from Life. Linocut with colour, produced by George Belcher (1875-1947) in 1918. Signed in pencil by the artist, within what can be assumed to be the original frame and mount. Unbleached, thereby with a little time staining, most easily discerned along the top edge of the print.

George Belcher was a cartoonist, painter and printmaker born in London. He became well known for his contributions to Punch, The Tatler and Vanity Fair, was a serial exhibitor at RA, The Fine Art Society and the Leicester Galleries where his shows such as London Types and Characters and (before WW1) London Life and Character, were highly successful. The Tate Gallery holds his work.
