A finely made little mule chest, mahogany with brass headed nails for the pulls, the lid opening onto a void. Surprisingly well made fro such a humble article, I speculate that this was made by a cabinet maker for use in his workshop.
The small drawers are all dovetailed front and back, the method deployed in the making of the secret drawers in a writing slope and other small works. In a slightly time scarred condition; three drawers with poorly replaced backs, one with a damaged back, and two sections of partition structure with damage. Nail holes, perhaps resulting from attaching a label, top left hand side, a few more to the chest's right hand side.
English circa 1800.
