Magnificent Large Military Pin-Cushion

A magnificent pin-cushion, most likely made by a soldier of The Royal Scots in honour of Queen Victoria at the time of her Golden Jubilee, 1887.

 

The regiment's battle honours are listed left and right of a Stevengraph silk issued for the Queen's Jubilee, the remaining areas of the red velvet cushion filled with a design of flags, and flowers of the United Kingdom and clusters to represent badges, all formed of blown glass beads of various sizes and colours, silvered within and secured by pins and laced by a golden thread.

 

Within a bird's-eye maple veneered cushion moulded frame.
