A fine 18th century French burr wood snuff box in the form of bag or item of luggage, shaped on all four sides, the lid bound with gold in imitation of brass straps, the lid centred by a drop-down carrying handle. There is a facetted gold button at the front to aid opening, the interior lined with tortoiseshell, the lid and base joined by a finely executed and designed gold hinge.
