Lead & Brass Ink Pot

A Georgian, brass-faced cast lead ink pot, engraved with the owner's initials 'T.F' and with the date 1766. 

Made in England over the second half of the eighteenth century and imported in considerable numbers by American hardware merchants. 

An identical example, but with differing initials, is illustrated in Donald Fennimore's 'Metalwork in Early America. Copper and its Alloys from the Winterthur Collection". No.233, A&B
