A flour dredger from a Country House kitchen, the push-fit pierced lid allowing for the scattering of flour, often over meat in preparation for cooking by basting.
The design, with a sheet metal, rivetted loop handle and applied cast foot and upper edge is little changed throughout the 18th century, this example is likely to date from around 1780.
