A portrait of a horse in a landscape, painted in oil on canvas and within a fine, period, bird's eye maple frame. Signed and dated 'James Clark Sen. 1895.'

This artist was one of the Clark family, his full name being Albert James Clark; he sometimes adds is address beneath the signature, 67 Riverside Road, Highbury London. He is considered one of the most artistic of the Clark family, strongly influenced by J.F. Herring sen.

His output is very varied in quality, this being a particularly good example of his work; finely executed but in his nieve style.
