The brush making company was established in 1861 by Mr Davis Burrow and by 1882 the business was employing 38 men, 8 boys, and 9 girls. They made all kinds of brushes, including paintbrushes, and supplied many of the railway companies of the time, eventually supplying brushes to British Rail. Perhaps used in Great Western Railway hotels or alternatively it could also have been used to keep the station staff in tidy order.
