Georgian Silver Nipple Shield

A fine silver nipple shield pierced with two sizes of hole. London 1798. 

2 3/8 in diameter. 

Silver nipple shields are now seldom seen but were relatively commonplace for about 30 years around the turn of the 18th century. At this time it was normal for breast feeding to continue after babies had cut their front teeth.
