Georgian Patent Wick Trimmers

hover over image to zoom

Early patent wick trimmers with a mirror finish polished steel partition stamped with a crown and 'PATENT', the closure with a similarly polished interior, the remainder of the steel an attractive blue-black finish.

There is little action with this patent as the user simply lifts the partition befrore trimming a wick and after making the cut drops the disc to contain the charred wick.

Presuambly this predates the more familiar and developed mechanism that lifts and drops the closure as the 'scissors' are used.

English circa 1780.

6 5/8 inches long.
