General Eliott Defender of Gibraltar in 1789

‘General George Augustus Eliott, Baron of Heathfield’ ‘bravely defended that Noble Fortress against’ the unsuccessful attempt, known as the Great Siege of Gibraltar, 1782, to capture Gibraltar from the British during the American Revolutionary War.

A fine and rare mezzotint retaining narrow margins, with extensive and original, gouache and watercolour, published by Robert Sayer in 1789 and presented in a good ebonized pearwood ‘Hogarth’ frame of the period.
