A fine 17th/18th century ivory snuff box, the hinged lid in a frame of silver coloured metal, carved with a scene of Perseus rescuing the Ethiopian princess Andromeda from the seamonster Cetus, which has been set upon Andromeda by the God of the sea; Poseiden.
The box is appropriately scallop-shaped.
Made in France, probably Paris, at around 1700.
