A fine and rare mezzotint engraving of 'The Late Most Noble Francis, Duke of Bedford,etc., etc., Published by John Fairburn, 146 Minories, London. Within a good, late 19th century carved and parcel gilt copy of an 18th century print frame. English c.1800.

Bedford was an English aristocrat and Whig politician, responsible for much of the development of central Bloomsbury.

He was also greatly interested in agriculture establishing a model farm at Woburn, and conducting experiments with regard to the breeding of sheep. He was a member of the original Board of Agriculture, and was the first president of the Smithfield Club.

This print published to commemorate his death in 1802 and shows him at his model farm in Woburn.
