Folding Travelling Lantern

An eighteenth century sheet brass folding lantern with a fan-shaped pediment and repoussé work, the three blind sides with the design of an armorial shield surmounted by a bishops' mitre and crossed keys.

The front was originally with a thin sheet of cow horn now replaced with glass. 

Low Countries, circa 1780.
