Engraved Steel Tobacco Box

A fine steel tobacco box, large enough for both leaf and pipe, engraved to the lid 'Isaac Pizzey Feb. 4th 1865' and with a scene depicting Mr. Pizzey at work shoeing a horse.

 

Isaac Pizzey is recorded as being born in Suffolk in 1839, his occupation that of a shoeing smith.

 

Upon marrying Ann (of Wakefield) they appear to have settle in Bradford, Yorkshire, and raised six children.
