A fine silver presentation oar made and retailed by John Gilliam, Lincolns Inn.

 

Finely chased with appropriate detailing and hallmarked for 1856. Maker's mark I.G assumed to be for John Gilliam, successor of Makepeace and Walford, Serle Street.

 

Within the original red leather-covered and blue velvet lined case, now tatty.
