A fine military campaign writing desk by 'Dobson, Hardwareman, Stationer &c, No.166 Strand London'.
Mahogany with brass straps and corners all securely fixed with steel screws, a drawer running the full width at the base of the box. A brass plate of conforming outline with the escutcheon is beautifully engraved with the crersts of a lion and that of a dragon. Within the desk is a baize lined writing surface, lecturn ledge and well concealed secret drawers.
The principle lock was made by Tompson of Birmingham, the original key is present and passes both the interior lock and the main outer lock.
