A fine and curious lidded cup.
The body is open within but not turned out. It may be a nest of some kind, or a dried fungus/growth.
The turned foot and lid present crisp, well proportioned lines, the finial close to an acorn. The timber has the distinct appearance of being Goncalo Alves.
Probably English and dating from circa 1860.
