A Georgian, silver mounted cowrie shell snuff box, the hinged lid finely engraved with a family crest of an arm and fist clutching a dagger, probably that of Clan Wallace, beneath which is engraved in script the owner's initials, 'RW'.
The silver marked to the inside of the lid with three castles for the Assay Office of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, the head of George III, and TW, probably for the silversmith Thomas Watson working from The Side, Newcastle.
