Colonial Dutch Crucifix

A Dutch colonial crucifix dating from sometime during the eighteenth century, the cross of mother-o-pearl has chamfered edges and is engraved with a crucified Christ to the obverse and a cross surmounted by a heart to the reverse. Each design is engraved with a tulip at the base. The four arms of the cross are capped with engraved silver metal finished with a small turning, the cap at the top with a suspension ring for the necklace of crudely fashioned mother-o-pearl beads.
