Miniature painting on ivory of a young woman of Sitzerland in traditional costume.
Painted for the western market sometime around 1860 by a Chinese artist, within the original Chinese carved and laquered wooden frame with a domed glass and gilded sight. Signed by the artist in red to the reverse on attached paper. Inscribed in ink to the wooden backing panel ‘Chinese Painting from J. Collier’.
