A good and smart, brass-bound camphorwood trunk, made in Canton at one of the cabinetmaker's shops supplying for trade with the west, the craftsmen working in the western style.
These trunks were made by highly skilled cabinetmakers, the sides being made using single, wide planks of camphorwood, joined at the corners with secret dovetails, then brass-bound for decoration, protection and strength.
