An exceptional Regency period military campaign writing slope of rosewood veneered over mahogany. Simple, sharply defined brass to all edges, including the closing surfaces within, that to the front engraved by the maker, 'Edwards, Manufacturer to His Majesty, King Street Holborn, London'.
A brass plate to the lid engraved with the crest of a Griffin.
Steel screws affixing the hinges, original grained blue-stained leather (stressed at the fold) and a single travelling inkwell.
When pressing the side of the inkwell's compartment a panel springs forward to reveal a pair of finely made secret drawers inlaid with brass line to conform with the pen-tray and covers within.
A Bramah type lock with key to the front; one flap with lock and key within.
