Both the artist and the sitter are unidentified. Further to the exhibition labels there is a trade label for John Bryce Smith (1882-1921), at 117 Hampstead Road, London NW1.
Bryce Smith was a noted supplier of materials to many major artists at the turn of the 19th century including Strang, Sickert, Buchel and Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
