Calamander and Coromandel are two very closely related woods from Sri Lanka, also native to India and South East Asia. Calamander is considered to be more striped and similar to what we know today as Macassar Ebony.

Both Calamander and Coromandel are named in reference to the Coromandel Coast of India from where the timber was exported.

Calamander has been logged to extinction over the last two to three hundred years and is no longer available for new work in any quantity.
