'Barn-Find' Campaign Chest of Drawers

hover over image to zoom

A good military campaign chest of drawers, early for this form and in a long-untouched state.

The flush fitted brass handles time patinated to a bronze colour, the top coating of polish broken from handling.

There is what may be Chinese writing beneath and an address label for Hull.

Solid mahogany for all show-wood, fine oak linings to the drawers with a deal back and base. This is a fine chest of this type with minimum damage. (The two top drawers have had been forced with resulting notches above the locks and two long drawers have splits along their lowest edges. These can be restored without interfering with the overall finish.) As this chest is in good structural condition we have chosen to offer it in this rare and untouched state.

English circa 1840.
