A good early artist's lay figure, carved from pine, showing ribs and a well detailed head, the ears especially well carved; inscribed across the back with the artist owner's name, G.R. Crowther.
Probably made in France circa 1860. It is interesting to note that Roberson & Co, artist's suppliers of 51 Long Acre London, exhibited at the Great Exhibition in 1851, their catalogue boasting a wide range of products including Parisian lay figures.
28.25 inches high.
